Electroplating Process Overview

Electroplating is a surface treatment method where the bearing is immersed in a metal salt solution and connected as the cathode.

A coating material, such as zinc or nickel, is used as the anode.

Common Types of Electroplating for Bearings

Zinc Plating

Nickel Plating

Black Plating (Oxidation Treatment)

Also known as oxidation treatment, black plating forms a thin black oxide protective film on the bearing surface.

This method is more economical than galvanizing, yet offers better corrosion resistance than zinc plating.
