Cap Screws
cap screws are essential components in many industrial, commercial, and even DIY projects due to their strength, reliability, and versatility.
Rounded Head Screws
These screws are commonly used in applications where aesthetics and minimal protrusion are important, such as furniture, electronics, and decorative fixtures.
Hex Head Screws
Hex head screws are fasteners with a hexagonal-shaped head that requires a wrench or socket to tighten or loosen. They are commonly used in various applications due to their strong grip and resistance to stripping compared to other head types.
Flat Head Screws
Flat head screws are fasteners designed to sit flush or below the surface, providing a smooth finish, commonly used in woodworking, construction, and metalworking applications.
Tapping Screws
Tapping screws are a type of self-threading fastener designed to cut or form their own threads as they are driven into a material. These screws are versatile and commonly used for securing materials like metal, wood, plastic, and composites without the need for pre-tapped holes.
Shoulder Screws
This design provides a precise bearing surface, allowing the screw to function as a pivot or support in various applications. They are commonly used in machinery, assemblies, and devices where precise alignment and rotational movement are required.
Set Screws
Set screws are versatile, headless fasteners that secure one object within or against another. Available in a variety of materials, drive types, and point styles, set screws are widely used in mechanical applications such as securing shafts, gears, or collars.
Thumb Screws
They are commonly used in applications where frequent adjustments are needed or where ease of removal is important. They come in various materials, including stainless steel, steel, brass, and aluminum, and can have different head styles such as knurled, flared-collar, and low-profile.
Carriage Bolts
They are typically used in wood and metal applications where a flush finish is desired. The square shoulder locks the bolt in place, while the smooth, rounded head provides a clean appearance and prevents snagging.
12-Point Screws
12-point screws are compatible with standard 12-point box wrenches or sockets. The 12-point design provides more points of contact with the tool, distributing torque evenly and reducing the risk of rounding the screw head under high torque conditions.
Captive Panel Screws
Captive panel screws are fasteners that are permanently secured to a panel or door, typically with the help of a retaining mechanism, such as a shoulder or a retainer washer.
Threaded Rods and Studs
Threaded rods are long, continuous rods with external threads used for adjustable length connections, while studs are shorter fasteners with threads on the ends or part of their length, designed for secure connections with nuts or other fasteners.
Fastener classification
Fasteners also known as standard parts in the market, are a general term for a type of mechanical parts used to fasten two or more parts (or components) into a whole. It is characterized by a wide variety of specifications, different performances and uses, and a high degree of standardization, serialization and generalization. Fasteners are the most widely used mechanical basic parts and are in high demand.
Fasteners usually include the following 12 categories: bolts, studs, screws, nuts,self-drilling screws, wood screws, washers, retaining rings, pins, rivets, assemblies and bolt connecting pairs, and welding nails.
The functions of each part of the fastener:
- Bolt: a fastener consisting of a head and a screw, generally used in conjunction with a nut;
- Stud: A fastener with threads on both ends;
- Screw: A fastener consisting of a head and a screw, divided into machine screws, set screws and special purpose screws;
- Nut: with internal threaded hole, used with bolts and studs;
- self-drilling screws: similar to machine screws, but they are equipped with a drill bit or a drill-like point at the tip, allowing them to cut through the material as they are screwed in.
- Wood screws: The threads on wood screws are special threads that can be screwed directly into wooden parts;
- Washer: A type of fastener in the shape of a circular ring, placed between the nut, bolt, screw and support;
- Back-up ring: plays the role of preventing the movement of parts on the shaft or hole;
- Pin: Mainly used for positioning parts;
- Rivet: A fastener consisting of a head and a shank. Used to connect and fasten two parts with holes and cannot be disassembled;
- Assemblies and bolt connecting pairs: Assemblies refer to fasteners supplied in combination; bolt connection pairs refer to fasteners supplied in combination with special bolts and nuts and washers;
- Welding nails: heterogeneous fasteners, fixedly connected to one part by welding method so as to be connected to other parts.
