Low-Pressure Iron and Steel Threaded Pipe and Pipe Fittings

832 Products

LILY Bearing stocks low-pressure iron and steel threaded pipe nipples, pipe, and flanges — the general-purpose workhorse of our steel threaded line, including a right/left-hand thread version for no-turn assembly and FM-approved cast iron flanges for fire protection systems. New to threaded steel pipe, or not sure which nipple style fits your job? Use the filters below, or the comparison table, to narrow down by product type and thread configuration.

Category Product Type Material Watch Out For
Standard-Wall Steel Threaded Pipe Nipples and Pipe Nipples & pipe Steel The base, general-purpose option for this category — not for high-pressure or high-stress service
Standard-Wall Steel Threaded Pipe Nipples and Pipe with Sealant Nipples & pipe Steel Thread sealant is factory-applied — saves an installation step, but confirm it's compatible with your service temperature
Standard-Wall Steel Threaded Pipe Nipple and Pipe Assortments Multi-size kits Steel Useful for stocking a range of sizes without ordering each one separately — check the kit contents against what you actually need
Standard-Wall Steel Pipe Nipples and Pipe with Right-Hand and Left-Hand Threads Nipples & pipe Steel One end threads clockwise, the other counterclockwise — lets you join two fixed fittings without rotating either one, but easy to install backward if you're not paying attention
Low-Pressure Steel Threaded Pipe Flanges Flanges Steel Standard bolt pattern for moderate-duty piping — not for high-pressure service
FM-Approved Low-Pressure Cast Iron Threaded Pipe Flanges Flanges Cast iron Carries FM approval for fire protection systems — confirm your project actually requires that certification before paying for it

Right/Left-Hand Threads and Sealant Options

Most threaded nipples have standard right-hand threads on both ends. A right/left-hand nipple threads clockwise on one end and counterclockwise on the other, which lets you tighten a union-style joint between two fittings that are already fixed in place — without having to spin either fitting itself. For sealing, most installers apply thread sealant or tape by hand at installation; choosing the version with sealant pre-applied skips that step and gives a more consistent result.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's a right/left-hand thread nipple used for?

It lets you connect two fittings that are already fixed in place — like two valves plumbed into a wall — by turning the nipple itself instead of rotating either fitting. As you turn it, one end tightens while the other also tightens, drawing the whole assembly together.

Why choose a nipple with sealant pre-applied?

Thread sealant is normally applied by hand during installation. A pre-applied version saves that step and reduces the chance of an under- or over-applied seal, which is useful for high-volume installs or field technicians who need a consistent result.

What does FM-approved mean for a pipe flange?

FM Approvals is a third-party certification body used mainly in fire protection and insurance contexts. A fitting carrying FM approval has been tested to that body's standards, which some fire sprinkler and suppression system specifications require by name — check your project's specification before assuming a non-approved fitting is an acceptable substitute.

Why is this category called "low-pressure" if it doesn't list a specific rating?

"Low-pressure" here describes this line's position relative to our medium-, high-, and extreme-pressure steel threaded fittings — it's the standard-duty option, not a line rated for unusually demanding service. If your application needs a documented pressure rating, check the specific product page or contact our team.
