Compared with carbon chromium Martensitic stainless steel (440C), Austenitic stainless steel (316) has better corrosion and magnetic resistance. All Austenitic stainless steel bearings are made of AISI SUS316L (316) or SUS304 material, including both inside and outside rings, balls, and retainers. Because the Austenitic stainless steel can’t be entirely solid, these bearings can’t be used in high-load and high-speed environments, but they are a good choice when it comes to rust and corrosion resistance. They are widely used in the chemical and electronic industries.
316L stainless steel bearings have better corrosion resistance than 304 stainless steel, having good corrosion resistance in the pulp and paper production process. 316 stainless steel also resists the corrosion of seawater and industrial air.
