High precision zirconia balls are available in many sizes. Zirconia balls are most commonly used as check valves in flow control applications. When subject to stress by impact, grinding, or cracking, a zirconia ball undergoes “transformation toughening” which stops cracks from spreading and actually makes the ball stronger in the stressed area than what it was originally.
Zirconia balls also feature resistance to abrasion and corrosion and are chemically inert to molten metals, organic solvents, caustics, and most acids.

As a new type of ceramic bearing material, zirconia ball has excellent physical and chemical properties. Zirconium oxide is also used as a refractory material and high temperature resistant material in industrial production. Due to its high toughness, high strength and high wear resistance, and its excellent thermal insulation properties, the zirconia ball is also very close to steel, so it is the core component of the bearing and also meets the high bearing requirements in various fields.
Because zirconia balls are resistant to magnetism, insulation, wear, corrosion, oil-free self-lubrication, high temperature resistance, and high cold resistance, they can also be used under extremely harsh environmental conditions. Ceramic bearings with zirconia balls are more effective than conventional ball bearings and plain bearings in terms of product life and noise stability. At the same time, the thermal conductivity of zirconia balls is also the lowest among the common ceramic material bearings.
In the new materials research and development, zirconia balls have sensitive electrical performance parameters and are mainly used in various fields such as sensors, fuel cells and high temperature heating elements. Among various functional component devices, zirconia balls are also electrically conductive and are also well utilized in oxygen sensors for monitoring and quality inspection.
