SKF WindCon 3.0, is the third-generation version of the company's successful wind turbine monitoring system. SKF WindCon 3.0 is a proactive maintenance system that helps wind farms extend turbine maintenance intervals, better manage maintenance resources, and reduce unexpected downtime and per-kWh operating costs. This new generation now features CAN-bus interconnectivity to a number of systems found in a modern wind turbine, such as centralized lubrication systems, blade monitoring systems and gearbox oil condition systems. These systems can all be remotely monitored at maintenance centres through SKF WebCon software.
Easily installed on all turbine sizes and types, on land or at sea, the system continuously monitors critical equipment on single units or entire farms to reliably identify operating performance criteria. This enables wind farm engineers to determine the ??health' of the equipment and if maintenance activities will be necessary. These can then be scheduled at the earliest opportunity, enabling optimum turbine operation and even preventing potential machinery failure.
Using vibration sensors mounted on a turbine's High Speed Bearings, drive train gearbox, and generator, SKF WindCon 3.0 collects, analyzes, and compiles a range of operating data that can be configured to suit the needs of wind farm management, operators or maintenance engineers.
Data collected with SKF WindCon 3.0 also enables root cause failure analysis to eliminate recurring failures. When accessed with SKF WebCon, an advanced web based analysis program, the turbine conditions can be monitored via any computer with Internet access. SKF WebCon delivers information in a way that is easy to understand for all levels of turbine and wind farm personnel.
SKF WindCon 3.0 enables condition monitoring on an unlimited number of turbines and turbine data points. Sensors and software combine to continuously monitor and track any or all of these operating conditions:
Unbalanced propeller blades
Needle Roller Bearings condition
Generator rotor/stator problems
Inadequate lubrication condition
