Rod end bearing manufacturers said, a rod end bearing also known as a heim joint (N. America) or rose joint (U.K. and elsewhere), is a mechanical articulating joint. Such joints are used on the ends of control rods, steering links, tie rods, or anywhere a precision articulating joint is required. A ball swivel with an opening through which a bolt or other attaching hardware may pass is pressed into a circular casing with a threaded shaft attached. The threaded portion may be either male or female.
Rod End Bearings manufacturers offer those bearings as self-lubricating with TFE liners for reduced friction. Also can be supplied as metal to metal types. They are recommended for applications requiring considerable oscillation and misalignment under very heavy loads and where frequent lubrication is undesirable or impossible. Suited for hydraulic actuators, many aircraft landing gear door applications, vibration dampening devices, hinge and actuation link bearings for control surfaces, sliding guide Stainless Steel Bearings for flaps and leading edge slats, and power control system drive link bearings. Many others not mentioned. Numerous options available for special applications based on specific conditions, such as temperature, load, misalignment and load strength factors.
Manufacturers of Rod end bearing with external or male body threads. The Lily Bearing product line features over twenty different series of male and female rod ends in inch, or imperial, dimensions. Products range in bore size from 1/8 to 2 inch, with threads from 6-32 through 2"-12.
Standard catalog series include products with low carbon, high strength heat treated alloy steel, stainless steel, High Speed Bearings and Aluminum bodies. All feature one-piece, full-swage steel raceway construction with the exception of the SPM/SPW series, which feature a proprietary low friction high wear resistance molded liner. Steel race materials include low carbon, or heat treated alloy or stainless steels.
Ball materials include sintered steel, alloy or stainless steel. All balls are precision ground and heat treated. All threads are rolled to appropriate classifications. Many series are available with PTFE lined raceways, for smooth backlash-free fit.
Rod Ends and Spherical Bearings are bearing elements on a plain bearing basis. They are standardized according DIN 648 / ISO 6126 and CETOP. They are used for static and dynamic power transmission, and have proved their worth in millions of instances.
They are supplied in metric measurements and inch bore diameters and is available as relubricatable or maintenance free parts which are also available in complete stainless steel (NIRO, 100% non-ferrous metal free) version.
Maintenance Free Rod Ends and Spherical Plain Bearings must not be lubricated which have a big difference with Deep Groove Ball Bearings. The ball revolves on a PTFE liner incorporated in the housing.
Rod Ends with Steel running on special Brass, or with Steel running on Bronze, and Steel on Steel require regular lubrication. The first time lubrication has to be carried out when the part is mounted. The regressing interval depends on the impacting influences, such as ambient conditions (temperature, dust, etc.) and the mechanical impacts given through the application (surface pressure, number of alternation stress, pivoting angle, gliding speed, etc.).
